As another school year comes to a close, North Dakota United President Nick Archuleta reflects on the dedication of educators and public employees across the state while looking ahead to the work still to come. He encourages members to stay engaged through advocacy, elections, the campaign for universal school meals and sharing the stories that demonstrate the value of public education and public services.

North Dakota United is backing a proposed constitutional amendment to provide universal school meals for all students, arguing that no child should have to learn while hungry. The measure would ensure every student has access to nutritious breakfast and lunch, improving focus and academic success while saving families more than $1,000 per child each year. With broad public support across the state, advocates say the proposal reflects North Dakota’s shared commitment to supporting students, strengthening public education and investing in the future.

At the same time, we look ahead to the ongoing work of strengthening our union and advocating for improved support for our schools. From planning leadership trainings and supporting locals in negotiations to awarding more than $75,000 in scholarships, ND United remains focused on building a brighter future for public education and public service.

The second half of the 69th Legislative Assembly is in full swing, with bills that passed on one side are now crossing over to the other chamber for consideration.
