More than a dozen educators and their families gathered at the State Capitol in Bismarck for the 2024 Teacher Appreciation Week.

“Each year, Americans use this week to recognize educators for their efforts in teaching, inspiring, and developing our nation’s rising generations,” said State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler.

They were there for the first-ever Teacher Appreciation Week recognition ceremony.

“Today, we will recognize some of North Dakota’s most dedicated teachers for their commitment, empathy, intellectual courage, and the love that they extend to their students each and every day as they bring themselves to their schools every day,” said Superintendent Baesler.

Educators and administrators received awards for their commitment to the profession.

“I am so happy we have this opportunity to gather today to lift up teachers, to lift up our profession, and most importantly, to lift up our students, because they are our future,” said Nick Archuleta, president of North Dakota United.

Among those celebrated were recipients of the Milken Educator Award, National Board Certification, and the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science.
