Dawn Ressler Announced as ESP of the Year

A physical therapy assistant for Mandan Public Schools, Dawn Ressler, has been named North Dakota United’s 2027 ESP of the Year for her student-centered approach and strong relationships. Known for creative therapy activities, community outreach and leadership among peers, she exemplifies the vital role education support professionals play in student success.

BISMARCK, ND – Dawn Ressler, a physical therapy assistant for the Mandan Public School District, has been named the 2027 North Dakota United Education Support Professional (ESP) of the Year. Mrs. Ressler was nominated by her colleagues at MPS and was selected from a group of finalists by a committee of educators from around the state.

“All effective teaching and learning is predicated on building relationships,” said NDU President Nick Archuleta. “Great educators build great relationships with their students, and Mrs. Ressler does just that.”

Mrs. Ressler directly supports students and families by consistently creating fun, effective activities that incorporate physical therapy principles into learning and play. This commitment extends into the community through her initiative to personally build and distribute comprehensive summer kits designed to provide essential enrichment and materials for children during the extended break, supporting sustained growth and bridging the school-to-home connection.

Mrs. Ressler is also a leader and resource for her peers. Her colleagues say she is always willing to help in any capacity she is needed. Her commitment to the profession is further evidenced by her long service as a building representative for Mandan Education Association, serving on school board committees, and her participation in ESP conferences, ensuring the professional voice and development needs of support staff are represented and championed at the local and state levels.
